Benefits of Joining

Every CHS membership connects you to an interdisciplinary community working across climate and health.

Community & Connection

An interdisciplinary home where exchange happens by design. CHS is built for those who know that adjacent work shapes their own and want to be part of a community working across climate and health — growing networks, connecting with peers across fields, and opening the door to collaborations and coalitions that advance careers and move the field forward.

Membership Directory
Great ideas emerge when disciplines converge. Members access the full CHS digital ecosystem — member directory, working groups, hubs, committees, event recordings, Slack channel, and community-built resources.
Slack Channel
A dedicated CHS Slack platform to message members and collaborate around specific topics and interest areas, building bridges across time zones and formal convenings.
Regular Newsletter
Notifications of society updates, climate-health news, events, and learning opportunities from CHS and partner groups.

Attend Society Convenings

Participate in the Society's signature annual event, Climate Health Society 2026 — a global virtual convening designed around cross-field exchange, with global time-zone equity built into the program. Members are invited to submit abstracts to present their work, receive substantive peer feedback, and position their research, policy ideas, and innovations at the center of the climate-health conversation. Special consideration is given to work from low- and middle-income countries.

Scholarship & Publishing

CHS's official publication, the Journal of Climate Change and Health, gives members opportunities to publish and to engage with the latest interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed climate and health literature — supported by writing and methods workshops, journal clubs with journal leadership, and collaborations across committees, forums, and hubs.

Discounts
CHS members receive a 30% APC (article processing charge) discount for manuscripts published in the Journal of Climate Change and Health.

Educational Opportunities

The CHS webinar series brings interdisciplinary knowledge and speakers together in one place, accelerating ideas and action across the field. Members get newsletter notification of all current offerings:

  • Grand Rounds — a traditional academic format for presenting climate-health research
  • Professional Speaker Series — the full breadth of work across sectors, from finance and risk management to policy and practice
  • Journal Club — co-presented with the Journal of Climate Change and Health and Medical Students for a Sustainable Future (MS4SF)
  • Coolapalooza — dedicated to all aspects of heat and health
  • Workshops — structured, hands-on sessions for building skills and solving problems across disciplines
Learning Center
A members-only shared space with prior educational content — webinar and workshop recordings, newsletters, slide decks, and a section for members to promote their own talks and papers.

Governance & Participation

CHS is member-driven by design. Members have voting rights and an active voice in shaping the Society's agenda, priorities, and direction. Beyond voting, members can propose and launch their own working groups and hubs, and can join, lead, or contribute to Society committees — from research priorities and clinical guidance to health equity and communications. Participation isn't a passive benefit; it's an open invitation to help build what matters most to members.

Professional Development

CHS builds professional development programming to enhance knowledge, skills, and leadership across the career continuum — from trainees and early-career professionals to senior researchers, clinicians, and policymakers. Through workshops, webinars, mentorship, and interdisciplinary exchange, members gain the tools and fluency to lead at the intersection of climate and health.
